On the other hand, it seems more like it is supposed to be sort of a cinematic fight in the vein of Super's end-boss (going as far as directly referencing it), and to that end Samus Returns's version at least works better and is closer to an actual battle than the interactive cutscenes with MB in Other M or the Omega Metroid in Fusion.
