Just a few days back, we shared a story of one lucky Switch owner who had gotten access to the full version of Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp. Turns out that person (Killetheth) pre-loaded the game and then took their Switch offline. That led to the title mistakenly unlocking when the old release date of April 8th, 2022 rolled around.

While Killetheth had some fun for a bit, the party is now over. Nintendo actually emailed Killetheth and told them that their pre-order would be canceled and refunded. Obviously Nintendo never intended for the game to be played now, but with Killetheth sharing images and footage via their social media, Nintendo decided to step in and pull the plug.

You’re probably thinking that Killetheth could keep the game on their Switch and continue to enjoy it no problem. All they’d have to do is take their Switch offline again. While that fact was acknowledged by Killetheth, they said once Nintendo refunded them, accessing the game for further play would be considered illegal. Looks like they’ll have to go back to waiting like the rest of us!

Must've been fun while it lasted. At least we know a loophole if something like this happens again. 😅

*she, not ‘them.’
Pretty cool she got to play it early, but I admire her honesty in not retaining the game post refund.
