Monster Hunter: World: it's okay.
Part of the way through High rank, and so far the toughest and most exhilarating fights were the ones that I played for free in the Beta. 60 hours in and I have carted a grand total of four times (twice because (different) monsters trampled me to death from full health, twice because I got cocky during the multi-monster gang-bangs and they comboed me to death from full health), never more than once in a match, and I do not think I have spent more than a half hour on a single hunt, including the ones where I massacred every large monster on the map. The game gets a little funny at time acting like some monster I need to hunt to advance the story is going to be a big deal, even though I was beating it way back the first time I saw it dozens of hours ago and in fact am now wearing its skin as a hat and a nice pair of boots -- or when it asks me to capture a monster for study when a captured member of said monster's species is literally soundly-sleeping five feet away.
Honestly after they get the rumored handful of DLC monsters out, I hope they eventually either localize XX or start releasing way larger DLC packs with a ton of new monsters and G-rank missions. I would pay full price for a pack that did not do anything except insert toughened World-versions of Agnaktor, Brachydios, Seltas Queen, Duramboros, Gore/Shagaru Magala, Malfestio, Mizutsune, Nargacuga, Rajang, Tigrex, Nibelsnarf, Tetsucabra, Nerscylla, Gigginox, Yian Kut-ku, Zinogre, Valphalk, Kecha Wacha, Zamtrios, Qurupeco, and Atoraru-Ka.
