Netflix show 'Heartstopper' is showing Nintendo a lot of love

For those who haven’t heard of it, the Netflix show Heartstopper is an LGBTQ+ drama about teen friendship and young romance. When it’s not dealing with heady topics in its storylines, it turns out Heartstopper is also about showing Nintendo some love!

The clip above shows off one example of how Heartstopper puts Nintendo front-and-center for part of an episode. As you can see, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe gets the spotlight here, along with the Switch itself. We’ve seen plenty of shows feature Nintendo content before, but it’s quite rare to see a show get the sound effects and music spot-on as well!

That’s not the only time Heartstopper snuck in some Nintendo action, either. The scene above shows two of the main characters out at an arcade, and they’re going head-to-head in Mario Kart Arcade GP DX. Not only does the Heartstopper crew love Nintendo, it’s clear they have an affinity for the Mario Kart franchise as well!
