Just a few weeks back, we learned of the nominees for the World Video Game Hall of Fame 2022 ceremony. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was included on the short list of titles being considered, and we’re happy to share that Ocarina of Time has now officially been inducted.

Four games made the cut for 2022. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was joined by 3 more classics, Ms. Pac-Man, Dance Dance Revolution, and Sid Meier’s Civilization. Games that were nominated but didn’t get inducted include Assassin’s Creed, Candy Crush Saga, Minesweeper, NBA Jam, PaRappa the Rapper, Resident Evil, Rogue, and Words with Friends.

If you want to see every single game included in the World Video Game Hall of Fame, you can view the gallery here.

Ocarina of Time and Civilization are definitely worth of inclusion. I’ve never played Ms Pac Man or Dance Dance Revolution.

feels like Ms. Pac-Man probably shouldn't be there because of the...uh...legal complexities of it all. Assassin's Creed shouldn't even have been nominated.

@rawmeatcowboy

Title should say ‘officially’ not ‘official’?

Deserved inductions, except for Dance Dance Revolution in my opinion. Don't know what that's doing there. Played and enjoyed OOT, Ms. Pac-Man, and Sid Meier’s Civilization. I would substitute Resident Evil for DDR. It'll get in another year. I don't know how OOT has only been inducted now. One of the greatest games of all time and so influential. It meets all the criteria. Has DDR met all criteria? For example, "Longevity - is more than a passing fad and has enjoyed popularity over time." Maybe I just have an unfair dislike for it.
