I think the biggest problem is the use of the term censorship. People see and react poorly because they assume they are being deprived of something. I think localisation would be much more appropriate in most cases. Certain things which are socially acceptable in one country aren't in others. That's the way things are. That's the way they will always be. Now, the people who are finicky enough to complain about wanting the original content exactly as envisioned by the creators, download Duolingo, learn the language and buy the original version. Because there is always something that gets lost in translation.
