The next Switch needs to be a direct successor and not a half step that’ll fragment the user base, and in that case I think next year would be far too early to drop that. 2021 at the earliest, but ideally 2022 to give the Switch a good five years before needing to upgrade. In all likelihood third parties will still support Xbox One and PS4 for a year or so with Scarlett/PS5 getting enhanced ports in the same way PS3/360 were supported after the launch of their successors, so Switch ports could still happen for a while.

I do think a Switch Pro will happen, probably one with a higher resolution screen and a bit more horsepower for higher resolutions and frame rates but I can’t see it being used to bring over more demanding games exclusively.
