The Wii U didn’t get much in the way of third party games, but surprisingly, it did get Injustice: Gods Among Us. The sequel didn’t head over, which is completely understandable, but the success of the Switch did bring about Mortal Kombat 11. It’s certainly clear that Ed Boon, who helmed both games, lots to throw support Nintendo’s way.

Both Mortal Kombat 11 and the two Injustice games have been big successes, and fans have been wondering when they’ll see follow-ups. Of course, Mortal Kombat 12 is pretty much a lock, but Injustice 3 is pretty up in the air. That’s why fans are hitting up Ed Boon on Twitter to see what’s in the works, and he shared the following statement.

We REALLY appreciate that 2 of our games have anticipation for future installments…. and wish we could be everything everywhere all at once. But someone would have to give us the keys to the multiverse 1st.

Yea, that WAS kind of (unintentionally) kryptic. I was basically saying that (at the moment) we can’t work on every game we’d like to make all at the same time.

[Ed Boon]

Boon loves teasing projects when he has something to tease, but he clearly wants to keep these cards close to his chest. Again, a sequel to Mortal Kombat 11 is a no-brainer, so I don’t think anyone has to worry about that. If a third entry in the Injustice franchise is in the works, Boon is being very hush-hush on that. We’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed tightly in both instances.

I was kinda bummed that Wii U support for the first game dropped so quickly. Martian Manhunter and Zatanna never released on the eShop. Played the second game on PS4 and loved it! Managing excess gear got annoying though.
