While June is typically the month where E3 takes place, there’s no official E3 convention this year. That said, plenty of other game devs/pubs have been showcasing games via their own presentations, or offering up reveals to various gaming outlets.

There have been over 10 different gaming presentations this month so far, and a few more are slated for this week. Unfortunately, none of them are coming from Nintendo. The Big N has remained absolutely radio silent about any sort of Nintendo Direct happening this month, but today we have our best evidence yet that something is planned to happen before June wraps up.

Alanah Pearce, former game journalist (IGN, Rooster Teeth, Funhaus) and current game writer (Sony Santa Monica), hosted a live-stream today to share her thoughts on the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase. After she was done talking about that event, she made quick mention of other events coming up. This is when Alanah noted that a Nintendo Direct is coming on June 29th, 2022.

This mention caught some people in her Twitch chat off guard, and they asked for clarification. Pearce went so far as to double-check her calendar to reconfirm the June 29th date. She also noted that she didn’t get this information from Nintendo themselves, but with Alanah’s many years spent in the game industry on both the press/dev sides, it’s easy to guess that an inside source shared it with her.

Just to be clear, Alanah doesn’t seem to present this information as speculation. She comes off extremely confident in this Nintendo Direct happening, and I’d say she’s quite a trustworthy source.

Well, I prefer the 29th over the 15th because then I'll be able to watch live and the 15th not.

29th June could make sense for a couple of reasons, it would give Nintendo the limelight all on their own. If it was the 15th June, there's game developer conferences before and in the following days. And by holding it on the 29th it's still a Direct in the traditional E3 month of June. Besides, it's not like Nintendo are in any rush to hold a Direct, a couple of extra weeks won't hurt. We've gone a year and a half before between Directs(September 4th, 2019 and February 17th, 2021). Not that I take this rumour any more serious than the others.

My gut has been telling me that Nintendo wouldn't stay silent, but they would wait until the hype from the competition has died down. Whatever happens, I'm eager for their next direct and I don't want any leaks or spoilers.

I hope they announce a Wii U Pro

The 15th rumor came from an "content creator" being emailed about covering Neon White and guessing it meant Direct, but now that we saw that and release date ar SGF, it's a lot less believable. Either way, with no E3, there was no need to announce an "E3" Direct so early. They will just the normal day or so before strategy that they always stick to.

@lazuli

Not quite, if it airs on the 29th in the states it will already be the 30th in Japan. I believe

@joeshabadoo

Yes, but it sounds like a bad idea to have the shareholders meeting before they make announcements at the Direct.

@zcomuto

The Switch is the Wii U Pro.

@storabajskorven

It would certainly be out of the ordinary for them

It's obviously a leak regardless of her source, if it's true that is.

Oh man.. while I would absolutely LOVE a Direct as a birthday present, I kinda was hoping it would drop sooner.. Ah well, better late than never! Here's hoping for "Wii Music: Amiibo Festival"!

If there's a shareholder that same day it will not happen. No chance!

But Nintendo seems to have Directs on Thursdays, not? According to my timeline here in Norway it's the Tuesday the 14th so they could announce it today and have a Direct this Thursday.
That or next week to let the dust settle from this, not too good and not too bad, non-E3 E3 and get some attention.

And Wii Fit U Fit Meter functionality..

Okay... well now we are starting to enter "I'm interested in this" territory.
