Nintendo has a ton of franchises under its belt, and there are millions of fans for each. Those fans are always clamoring for new installments or remakes in those franchises, and while Nintendo appreciates the interest, they simply aren’t able to answer all of those requests.

At Nintendo’s The 82nd Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa talked about the interest in remakes and new entries in classic Nintendo franchises. You can see what he had to say on the matter below.

“It is realistically difficult to develop new titles and remakes, including sequels, for every Nintendo game that people request, but we are very grateful and appreciate the expectations our fans have for our games.”

[Shuntaro Furukawa, president of Nintendo]

Senior managing executive officer Shinya Takahashi also had an answer for the question, and it expanded a bit on the topic.

“We are always considering how to develop new titles and remakes that can be enjoyed by many players. During the 79th Ordinary General Meeting of Shareholders in 2019, we were asked if there were any plans to remake the Famicom Detective Club series, and, at that time, we happened to be planning a remake. That is an example where we were already actively developing such a title.

We cannot tell you if there are any plans for future remakes of any specific game, but, during development, we are always thinking about various possibilities that players can enjoy.”

[Shinya Takahashi, senior managing executive officer]

Nintendo please understand. All I want is a way to play Eternal Darkness on a modern system.

I am happy they tried again with Advance Wars, buy its such a shame the social climate once again screwed up the release. I feel all it will teach them is the series is better off not coming back 😥

You don't have to remake AAALLLLL of them. Just Xenoblade X.

And actually, now that kuribo mentions it, a port of Eternal Darkness wouldn't go amiss. We can't wait for Dennis Dyack to get all his shit in one sock.

Hmm... I'd love to get something Kid Icarus, Star Fox, and Golden Sun.

A new Style Savvy or StarTropics entry on the switch would be a nice start.
