Nintendo has announced the release date for Platinum Games’ highly anticipated Bayonetta 3. The action-packed threequel will launch exclusively for Nintendo Switch on October 28th, 2022. Bayonetta 3 was first revealed as a world premiere at The Game Awards 2017, so this has been a long-time coming. Check out the latest trailer above and new details below shared via the eShop.

The witch is back and more powerful than ever!

Bayonetta struts through multiple locations in an all-new, over-the-top climax action game for Nintendo Switch. Sporting a wicked new ensemble and somehow familiar pigtails, the titular Umbra Witch must face a mysterious evil using her signature guns and time-slowing Witch Time ability. This time, invading man-made bioweapons called Homunculi find themselves in Bayonetta’s crosshairs.

Get ready for a devilishly good time

Tap into Bayonetta’s naughtier side with Demon Masquerade, a new ability that channels the demon linked to her weapon allowing for some exciting action options, not to mention some hair-raising combos. She can also summon her demonic darlings like Gomorrah, Malphas, and Phantasmaraneae during battle, unleashing their demonic powers in the heat of combat and in new, larger-than life battles where you directly control the action.

A bounty of Bayonettas

Fight your way through the streets of Tokyo, the mountains of China, and many other locales! Along the way you’ll meet a virtual coven of Bayonettas, each more fabulous than the last. You’ll also slash and slay as Viola, a feisty witch in training who fights with a sword and a capricious companion, the demon Cheshire. Find out what fate awaits Bayonetta, and if this arcane alliance can really save reality!

  • Play as the bewitching Bayonetta in the third instalment of her climax action game series
  • Shoot, stomp, and slam your way through multiple locations and meet other Bayonettas
  • Channel the power of demons using the new ability, Demon Masquerade
  • Unleash Bayonetta’s Infernal Demons in larger-than-life battles
  • Slash and slay as witch-in-training Viola and harness the power of her feline demon, Cheshire

Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Splatoon 3, and now Bayonetta 3 all in the same year?? I don't know if I'll have enough free time this year to properly enjoy all of them! 😅 But I'm definitely excited to have new entries in these franchises! Bayonetta 3 is looking great!

I respect Kamiya for shamelessly remaking Devil May Cry 1 through Bayonetta.

Never played Bayonetta, are they actually any good or do people just play it because it's borderline porno?

If you like Hack and Slash games it's just amazing, it also has some exploration elements and good old secrets similar to retro games. And it's far from porno, it's more of spicy? I don't know, but everything feels well tailored. Me and my gf don't watch porn and don't want anything to do with it and we enjoyed the hell out of these games on Wii U. I think it's Ok if you can digest Anime and some Japanese games. You can also try Astral Chain.

@curry

That's my problem, I don't dig Japanese games that much but I might grab Bayonetta 1 and 2 for my next road trip

The level design in 1 really hasn't aged well.

If I were you I'd skip straight to 2.

It's not like the story really makes sense anyway, playing 1 first would barely give you any better understanding of what's going on in 2.

Or better yet, just wait for 3 and play that one!

They are some of the best games of the genre.

Well first of: Saying " because it's borderline porno" is, and I'll be nice here, silly. It's erotic perhaps, but not even close to porn. The game IS over-the-top though and that in many ways. Bayonetta herself is, the story, the enemies. And yes, it's very Japanese even if set in Europe (USA in the 2nd) when in the real world.
But all in all the games are brilliant. As storabajskorven said "They are some of the best games of the genre." which is hard to argue against according to the internet (and myself from my own experience). It's a Hack N Slash, but not a button masher at all (unless you play on easy mode I guess). The first game came out on PS360 but because of the great artistic design the games still look gorgeous today. It has great, memorable characters you with personality (even if cheesy at times), a pretty interesting lore and I think the stories are great even though I needed a couple of playthroughs before I started to get it. Actually, I play 1 and 2 as one game. Also a great atmosphere that sinks you into that universe.
The gameplay! Now this is where it's unbeatable (I could have made a pun here I think). It's hectic, fast-paced action which gives the gamer great satisfaction when beating the baddies. Oh and the humour... =D

Anyway. I advice you to play the frst two if you want to play this one. You'll get to know the core lore, the characters, setting etc which obviously is going to be very important while playing B3. Kamiya wasn't joking there.

On the other hand if you do not like Japanesy games it's a harder sell, but I know several people who still love the games even though they are mostly into Western games.

That's the short version. Please don't make me take the long one! =D

P.S: THere's a "filter" called "Naive Angel Mode" that turns of the "porn" =)
