Sonic the Hedgehog 2 hits theaters on April 8th, 2022, but fans of the Blue Blur will be able to get a taste of the film earlier than that. A special prequel comic for the movie is hitting shelves on March 23rd, 2022, and it includes the involvement of none other than Jim Carrey.

The comic, which is priced at $7, includes five different stories across 40 pages. This comic is meant to serve as a bridge between the first and second movie, which makes things all the more interesting. As far as Carrey’s involvement, comic writer Keil Phegley says that Carrey “spearheaded” the Dr. Robotnik story you’ll find within.

Phegley says that Carrey had a concept for Robotnik, which he sent over to the comic team. Carrey’s one-page outline was turned into a five-page script by the comic writers, and then the art team came in and worked their magic.

Cool to hear Jim Carrey contributed to the Robotnik story, reminds me of a DC book earlier this year where Danny Devito wrote a penguin story!
