The Community Manager at Blizzard Entertainment, Craig “WyomingMyst” Simpson, has confirmed that unlike the original Overwatch, the free-to-play sequel, Overwatch 2, will not require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. This follows in the footsteps of other free-to-play games like Fortnite, Ninjala, and Brawlhalla.

Overwatch 2 launches for Nintendo Switch on October 4th, 2022.

Good news in my opinion. However, I thought this was an already established policy of F2P games not requiring NSO. In other words, I think this is universally true, and would only be news if NSO *would* be required for a F2P game.

If there is an exception to this rule, I would be interested to know about it.
