What’s the one thing you know about Mario? It’s his love of jumping on things, right? Mario jumps on enemies, jumps up platforms, and just generally jumps all around. You’d think Nintendo would want that to be a part of every Mario adventure, but according to Ubisoft’s Davide Soliani, that’s not the case.

In an interview with Nintendo World Report, Soliani talked about working with Nintendo on both Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle and Sparks of Hope. Nintendo had some rules set in place for Kingdom Battle, but Soliani got Nintendo to ease up for the sequel. For example, in Kingdom Battle you couldn’t control Mario or his party directly. In Sparks of Hope, you now have direct control over the lead party member.

While Soliani could get Nintendo to relax some rules, there are others they simple won’t budge on. It seems the biggest one of those is related to jumping.

So there is only one rule that cannot be broken, and the rule is you cannot jump because it’s not a platformer game. But we invented our way of jumping, which is the team jump, which is fine because it’s only happening in this game.

Didn’t we know that for the first game? That Miyamoto made the condition that Mario couldn’t jump because that was “his thing”?

Yes. Excuse me, I've had a bad day. One of many, many bad days.

I thought you might, that's why I apologized. It's not about typos, but never mind. If only we could edit the typos and hurt of real life. ✌️

Its pretty odd that SMRPG when it was developed, they did the jump to make it feel like its Mario..why is it here they decided not to do the jump?
