As part of their Q2 Fiscal Year report, Nintendo has announced that they’re working on a new joint venture with DeNA, the company Nintendo previously teamed with for multiple mobile efforts and more.

Nintendo first teamed with DeNA in 2015, and now the duo will advance their partnership and establish a joint venture company. The objective of this company is to strengthen the digitalization of Nintendo’s business, which will include research and development, along with the creation of value-added services to further reinforce Nintendo’s relationship with consumers.

This new joint venture is officially set to kick off on April 3rd, 2023. No specifics on what this actually means for consumers were shared.

Interesting. It seems they partnered for a big mobile push a few years ago but then pulled back on their mobile efforts. I wonder if they’re looking to go back in or if DeNA will help with something for Switch.

The notice from NCL's website shows this for the business relationship of the new joint venture:

Nintendo and DeNA jointly develop and operate
game apps for smart devices, and Nintendo entrusts
DeNA with the joint development and operation of
membership services for various devices.

The last part mentions "devices", so I wonder if the reach goes further than just mobile platforms. And it mentions membership services, so maybe they're enlisting help with NSO?? I hope so. I've thought they should use a partner to manage it, since it seems they can't afford as many dedicated resources for it.

Most probably for server infrastructure. I mean that's only good for the Switch right?
