New Mickey Mouse cartoon sneaks in a Kingdom Hearts reference

In a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, a new Mickey Mouse animated short pays tribute to the Kingdom Hearts franchise.
Obviously everyone at Disney is well aware of the Kingdom Hearts franchise. It couldn’t exist without Disney’s cooperation! That said, outside of the games themselves, you don’t really see Disney talking about the world of Kingdom Hearts. That’s what makes this one-off gag so nice to see.
Spotted in The Wonderful Spring of Mickey Mouse animated short on Disney+, you can see a keyblade tucked away inside a box that Minnie is carrying. Storyboard Revisionist Amber Vucinich included this tribute in her storyboard design, and the gag made it all the way to the finished episode. A lovely tribute to a franchise that means a lot to so many.

2y agoMaybe not here but Tokyo Disney Resort has had Kingdom Hearts suites available before, I think they're doing one for the games anniversary too, ok just found it, it runs through April 27
