Just yesterday, we shared the details on what games closed out the year in the top 20 in the United States, along with the overall top 20 for the year. Today brings us a few more industry-wide stats that you might be curious to know.

NPD’s Mat Piscatella has shared a breakdown of all-things gaming in 2022, along with specific figures for December 2022. You can see his specific notes below.

  • U.S. consumer spending on video game content, hardware and accessories totaled $7.6B in December 2022
  • this was an increase of 2% when compared to a year ago
  • hardware spending grew 16%, offsetting declines in both content (-1%) and accessories (-2%)
  • 2022 spending totaled $56.6B, 5% below 2021 levels

Funny that sales are up slightly in the US, but sales are down fairly significantly in Europe.
