How do these Pikmin look in HD?
Pikmin 4 was just released, but let’s not forget that Pikmin 1 and 2 were made available on Switch just last month! In their latest video, Digital Foundry has set their sights on the HD versions of these first two Pikmin games. How many changes have been made, and is it worth the upgrade?
As is explored in the video, these are “HD versions” of the original games, not remakes or remasters. As such, not much is different from the GameCube releases other than the HD resolution upgrade. Both games now run in 1920x1080p at 30fps. There are also some new 2D assets that were designed for the HUD. The in-game textures didn’t get an overhaul, and as such are a little outdated compared to modern games. Is that enough to detract from the improved elements?
Watch Digital Foundry’s full analysis now for the complete rundown and more insight into the technical workings Pikmin 1 + 2.
