Ninja reportedly tried to add $500k to EVO 2019's Smash prize pool, but Nintendo ghosted him
Looks like they didn't like what Ninja was cooking
Back in 2018, famous content creator Ninja tweeted that he was doing something for the Smash/fighting game community, but nothing ever came of it. Fans have been wondering what happened for years, and it looks like we may finally know.
While playing poker with Ludwig, another famous streamer who got his start in the Smash scene, he revealed that he had planned on adding $500k to the Smash prize pool for EVO 2019.
That was on Nintendo and not me… It’s 100% absolutely the case. All I wanted to do was create a massive tournament and juice Evo like $500K, but I wanted to get Nintendo’s permission, and they just ghosted us.
It’s a shame that Nintendo ghosted him and nothing ever came of it, but at least we know what Ninja had in mind all those years ago.
