Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake is giving Dragon Quest III a major visual and audio overhaul, but it seems the revamp might also include some new features as well.

During today’s Nintendo Direct, we got our first full-length trailer for Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake. The game is looking absolutely fantastic, and eagle-eyed Dragon Quest fans have been pouring over every second since the trailer dropped. That’s led to a rather interesting discussion about a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment.

Circled in yellow above, the trailer featured a very quick moment where you can spot an interesting-looking outfit on a character. That outfit appears to be for the Monster Master class, which is a profession that wasn’t found in the original Dragon Quest III. Along with that, you can also see the same character design, along with a female variant, in the Collector’s Edition artwork.

Square Enix isn’t ready to talk about all the new aspects of Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake just yet, but they did mention that job system will be “modernized.” The addition of at least one new job certainly points to a modernization of what the original game provided, and perhaps this is just the tip of the iceberg. We’ll just have to hang in there until Square Enix feels like sharing more specifics.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake comes to Switch on Nov. 14th, 2024. Experience the chronological beginning of the Erdrick Trilogy storyline in this remake of the original RPG classic, now with vibrant HD-2D visuals and an expanded narrative.
