The dreaded day has come where credit cards can no longer be used to add funds to the Wii U and 3DS eShops. From now until the service ends in March 2023 the only way to add funds directly through the 3DS or Wii U is via eShop cards.

However, GameXplain has recently posted a video detailing a way to link your Nintendo Account to your Nintendo Network I.D., which will allow you to merge funds between all the store fronts. This means that you can add funds on the Switch eShop and use them on the 3DS and Wii U eShop.

While this was a known feature for a while it’s possible that many have forgotten (Heck, I forgot about it) so we felt it was important to highlight for those still trying to round out their collections.

Remember though, this will only work until the Wii U and 3DS shops close in March of next year. So, while you still have time, be sure to not forget if you still have some shopping to do.

I was wondering when someone was going to point this out. Now we just have to wait for Nintendo to get these services back up.
