Have you been slacking on your Animal Crossing: New Horizons island? Did the game fall by the wayside for awhile, or has it been languishing in your backlog? If so, you better get to playing as soon as possible, because you only have 38 years left to do so.

A particularly dedicated Animal Crossing: New Horizons fan has been virtually time-traveling with their Switch to see what happens to the game, and they’ve discovered a special message if you move your Switch to 2061. You can see the message that popped up below.

Is something happening in 2061 that we don’t know about, Nintendo?! It seems like an oddly specific year to mark as one where Animal Crossing: New Horizons is unplayable, but as you can see, that’s exactly what the message states. It’s likely this is an arbitrary date, but even if it sticks, you can always change the clock on your Switch and play without issue.

How many of us will be alive by 2061? I don't want to tempt fate. Interesting though that they will let you live 20 years in the past, but only 40 years in the future. Never mind who will be around then, the Switch has built-in obsolescence, the game isn't complete on cartridge, servers will be long gone, Joy-Con drift will be insane, the Switch battery can't be changed and let's see how game cartridges hold up over time, plus maybe other unforeseen circumstances.
