Back in May 2022, Street Fighter 5 composer Daniel Lindholm made comments that pointed to Fei Long, a classic Street Fighter character, being caught up in legal issues that would prevent them from appearing in a future installment. This was supposed due to the Bruce Lee estate taking issue with Fei Long’s similarities to Bruce Lee.

The Bruce Lee estate was quick to follow up on the matter and say that it simply wasn’t true, and they never made any statements about blocking Fei Long from appearing in Street Fighter. Now we have comment from Capcom themselves, and they also say that everything’s good.

“That whole Bruce Lee estate information they mentioned turned out to not be real. I can’t say whether he’s coming or not (to future games), but there are definitely no legal issues.”

[Street Fighter director. Takayuki Nakayama]

We’re not quite sure how Lindholm came to the understanding that Fei Long was blacklisted from future Street Fighter projects, but we’re glad to see that nothing is standing in the character’s way from returning.
