KLONOA Phantasy Reverie Series is coming to Switch on July 8th, 2022, and it’s a compilation of the first two Klonoa games. The project is releasing in honor of the franchise’s 25th anniversary, and fans are hoping this shows at least some interest in creating a new entry in the Klonoa franchise down the road. Thankfully, the game’s producer feels the same way.

In an interview with game journal Lock-On, producer Ryo Ishida said that the reaction KLONOA Phantasy Reverie Series could pave the way to ‘expanding’ the Klonoa IP.

“With Klonoa, since there’s been large gaps between the release of the games, at this 25th anniversary’s timing, we decided to release this title so people can play the original [games] first. And if this remastered version is loved by the community, there might be opportunities to further expand the Klonoa IP and do other remasters of other titles as well. The first goal and idea behind the [Phantasy Reverie Series] itself is to spread awareness and reignite the Klonoa IP.”

Long story short, if you want to see a new Klonoa game, the best way to make that happen is to support KLONOA Phantasy Reverie Series!

I'm doing my part, though I still like the Wii remake redesign for Klonoa over the closer to the original PS1 version they're doing here. I hope the other model is available as an unlock though like the Klonoa 2 version was available in the Wii Remake.

Well if they want to follow it up with something easy, I think we'd all take a collection of the handheld games (and Beach Volleyball, for the hell of it). But obviously a new game would be best case. I'm still gutted that the movie was cancelled.
