It’s no secret that Nintendo’s games and characters have inspired many people inside the games industry. You can probably recall a few Nintendo related Easter eggs hidden in games not made by Nintendo themselves. This story, however, is a Nintendo Easter egg hidden in a place fans probably wouldn’t expect, the Paramount + streaming series “Star Trek: Picard”.

As seen in the above tweet, “Star Trek: Picard” showrunner Terry Matalas revealed that the Saurian skull seen in one of the shows sets is named “Y’shi” a clear homage to the loveable and apparently disposable green dinosaur.

As longtime fans it’s always nice to see when the world of Nintendo leaks into more popular and mainstream media. It will be interesting to see how these references continue to grow now that Nintendo is entering the film industry with the Super Mario Illumination film releasing this year.

Yoshi's tax troubles finally caught up with him, and it didn't end well.

@lucius6

You just reminded me that I have to do my taxes. I think I'd rather be in Yoshi's spot!
