Ubisoft caused a bit of a firestorm earlier today on their official Twitter account. With Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hopes impressions and footage hitting the web today, Ubisoft started tweeting out details about the game. In one of their tweets, they mentioned players would need to have a Ubisoft Connect account to play. That seemed a bit odd, as a Ubisoft Connect wasn’t necessary for Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. Thankfully, it was all a mistake.

We’re not quite sure how it came to be, but Ubisoft has since deleted their original tweet and followed up with a new one. Ubisoft has now clarified that the original tweet was a mistake, and those picking up Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope won’t need a Ubisoft Connect account to enjoy the sequel. At least we only had to worry about this being an issue for a few hours before Ubisoft caught their mistake and fixed things up!

Ya, there's no way Nintendo would have allowed that be a condition to play the game.

That’s great. Ubisoft Connect is a blight on PC and even a pretty big annoyance on Xbox.
