A portion of an ONM interview with Warren Spector...

ONM: You've said that Epic Mickey 2 won't be released on Wii U because you were too far into development when you heard about Nintendo's new console. Surely releasing it on Wii is a good fit as you're aiming for a family audience

Warren Spector: Clearly that was the reason, perhaps the most important reason, why we were [Wii] exclusive on the first game. Certainly if you're looking for a broad, family audience, Nintendo is the place, right? I wouldn't go so far as to say we're never going to do a Wii U game, I'm just saying no comment right now.

ONM: Have you got anything to do with the 3DS version? How is that progressing?

Warren Spector: Anything to do with Epic Mickey and Wasteland, I'm not letting it out of my sight! I love it. I was so excited to get to work with the guys at Dreamrift. I'd played Henry Hatsworth and Monster Tale. They're really doing some interesting and innovative stuff. The thing I love most about their work so far has been the way they've integrated the top and bottom screens in the way that most developers don't even try to do.

When we had our first meeting, I remember I was talking to Peter Ong who's their creative director and it was like talking to myself 20 years ago. It was really cool. We had the same inspirations in terms of the games we loved and games that we wanted to emulate. They were able to dig out a proposal that they were getting ready to shop around that involved drawing and erasing things and so that first meeting, we started brainstorming and we were on the same page so it was pretty cool.
