Pokemon Life, a magazine for adult Pokemon fans, launching in Japan

Well this is pretty interesting...a Pokemon magazine aimed at adults. Pokemon Life is supposed to be a magazine for the older Pokemon fan, aiming at those in their late teens/early 20s. It'll feature merchandise, interviews with devs, art features, content on Pokemon OR/AS, looks back at older Pokemon games and more. There's even a poster and Pikachu card case included in the first issue. Pokemon Life is due out in Japan on July 30th for 1,200 yen.

You know, one of the people I follow on Twitter started talking about a Japanese article they'd read which interviewed several Japanese children to find out why Yo-kai Watch was suddenly overtaking Pokemon in popularity, and why Japanese kids liked it better than Pokemon. One of the big reasons many of them cited was that Pokemon was too much of an "adult" thing--it was something grownups liked, while Yo-kai Watch was all their own. I guess this just proves their point! As it nears 20 years old, Pokemon is kind of an old fogey of a series whose staunchest fans have been with it since the beginning. Just like it confused all our parents, now Japanese kids have something to confound THEIR parents with. :P

"teens/early 20s"...

err. not really adults.
