Nintendo and Hasbro Join Forces to Let TRANSFORMERS Fans Take Sides in Splatoon
Are you team Autobot or team Decepticon? Nintendo and Hasbro are joining forces to help you defend your robot allegiances in the Splatoon game for the Wii U console.

Splatoon features themed events called Splatfests that let players pick a preference, such as Autobots or Decepticons, and then compete against the opposing side in online battles. A Splatfest celebration lasts for 24 hours, during which players head into battle and try to rack up Turf War wins for their side. While the Splatfest is ongoing, in-game characters get to wear a special T-shirt that shows which Transformers team has their allegiance. The ink that each team shoots will also be customized to match the color scheme of the chosen side.

Once a Splatfest ends, the side with the most points will be awarded the most Super Sea Snails, items that will allow them to upgrade their gear in the game. The Transformers-themed Splatfest event is scheduled to run starting at 9 p.m. PT on Aug. 28 through 9 p.m. PT on Aug. 29 and is open to all Wii U owners who have Splatoon and an Internet connection.

Splatoon, which is exclusive to Wii U, represents Nintendo’s take on the action-shooter genre. Characters called Inklings can transform into squids as they attempt to cover the play area with their team’s colorful ink and splat opponents. Using an array of inventive weapons, players cover the playing surface with as much of their team’s colorful ink as possible before time runs out. On Aug. 5, a free software update in Splatoon brought a large amount of new content to the game, including two new matchmaking modes, new weapon types, an increase to the game’s level cap and more than 40 pieces of new gear.

You'd think they'd tie this to a Transformers release on WiiU or 3DS, or maybe free Splatoon DLC that is Transformers related.

It's not like they gave away food in Japan with all their sponsors.

But yeah, we need Transformers gear.

Or Transformers Devastation. Annoyed Wii U is the only system not getting it.

This is so cool! I love Splatoon, I love Transformers, and I'm so down with this!

oh yeah I totally skipped over the fact, that the next transformers game is going to be on everything but wii u and 3ds. even though, it's made by a company with working knowledge of the wii u (and also will have made three top games for the system).
and then people will keep going with nintendo not doing enough for third parties, lol. Let's not even go how they botched the actual good game they had and were the few to not port an old title to the wii u. Digging sideway activision indie label brought keflings or something but not geometry wars 3. My goodness those companies are just full crazy. Remember not talking about exclusives here, talking about games on many many platforms, all with the 30% cut from valve, ms, sony.
I hope nintendo got some free toys out of it. Like you know five boxes sent to their office.

anyway Decepticons go !!!

You'd think Nintendo would want to only partner with companies who actually support them. All this does is remind fans of the complete drought of third party content on Nintendo platforms.

This is Hasbro, though. Not Activision. I doubt Hasbro has anything to do with the platform.

And both companies making Transformers: Devastation, Platinum & Activision HAVE supported Nintendo and are BOTH releasing games on Wii U this holiday.

I would like to vote Decepticons but soooooo many people are going to vote Autobots. The heroes almost always are more popular. I really want those 4 snails

I don't know much about Transformers but I'm going with Team Decepticons based on the fact that it's the side Marie will choose and that Starscream is a Decepticon.

I'm not really mad about the promotion, but it does show that Nintendo is kind of out of touch when the next Transformers game isn't on their platforms.

To make matters worse they'll probably have something for Star Wars in December too.

What does 'out of touch' have to do with this?

Man, those shirts are awesome! Too bad they're only temporary. : <

I fear my UK and EU Splatfest is going to be an odd / out of season theme again... :/

Rumor has it the next UK/EU Splatfest is going to be Elevators vs Lifts. It will be a glorious rivalry!
