Wasn't even aware of this being a thing... but pretty sure there was also a cancelled Fire Emblem 64 as well. I admit I was hoping for some video of it, since there was a still in the preview image, so a bit disappointed at that not being the case.

Even so, I'm a big fan of the Advance Wars series, and I do await it to make a comeback someday. While I admit Days of Ruin was not my favorite entry, it wasn't bad, either, though I know a lot of what it did ended up turning folks off to it.

Oh so there was a FE64 at some point?
That's interesting. I've never heard of it. I guess if it was featured in the preview video, chances are they're keeping it for later. These two series have always been linked in some ways, reusing engines and visuals from one another and whatnot.

Yeah, I don't have any info on it beyond that it was in development.
http://fireemblem.wikia.com/wiki/Fire_Emblem_64 literally compiles all of the known information, which is pretty much just that it existed. Kinda has a lot of the "Mother 3" sort of development story to it, since it's an N64 game that may have been cancelled in favor of making a GBA game out of it. (Because that's the rumor about where FE64's story went.)

But anyway, I don't think Advance Wars 64 would have shared any assets with Fire Emblem 64, since Hudson was working on AW64, and FE64 was Intelligent Systems. Maybe someday we'll see what FE64 could've been, I'd like for some internal screencaps to get leaked or something.

Isn't it also rumored that FE64 became 'FE: The Binding Blade'? I'm not a fan of FE, but I remember reading that somewhere.

EDIT: Nevermind, I suppose you're refering to see developemnt screenshots and whatnot.

The rumor you mention is correct, that's what they say happened to it. Hence my comment about it going the same direction as Mother 3. (An N64 title that was made into a GBA title instead.)

Honestly, it was probably for the best, and it did ultimately have a positive result for the Fire Emblem series. (Binding Blade didn't get localized, but Blazing Sword would likely not have been made if Binding Blade had been an N64 title, so it was possible Fire Emblem may not have ever made it out of Japan.)
