RUMOR - Nintendo to debate delaying StarFox Zero once again

As I've said before, Doctor Cupcakes has proven to be a man in the know. On top of that, we've heard from other trustworthy sources that Nintendo has been having some issues with StarFox Zero. I guess we'll find out soon enough if those issues have been solved or if the game needs a bit more time. Thanks to Lars for the heads up!

if theyre even considering it, its prolly worth the delay. please delay it and make it the best version of the "vision" that is starfox.
nintendo doesnt usually seem to care about delays, if they know the game isnt up to snuff they usually take more time....hrmmmm, mostly. ill wait til 2017 if need be, as long as its an epic space-sweeping adventure and everything that starfox was meant to be... ... including the gamepad.
i mean, we've waited this long for Zelda U, so

Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash could have used a delay or 3 for more content.

I cannot think anything could have saved Ultra Smash. It was its destiny.

It shows that Nintendo can be just as bad as any other third party developer and release crappy games. They're not special.

This has been a things since N64 era. Hell most GCN Pokemon games were garbage too. Genius Sonority was awful of a company back then.

Wow! No, Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon XD are some of my favorite games ever. And lots of Pokémon-players agree too. I always dreamed of another console Pokémon-game made by Genius Sonority :O

Looking through the Genius Sonority titles I played:
Pokémon Trozei was fun and I was a little bit addicted to it
Pokémon Battle Revolution was surely not for everyone, but it had very nice arenas and battles
Learn with Pokémon: Typing Adventure - I bought that one a few weeks ago for a very cheap price and even that game was kind of fun, although very short
Pokémon Battle Trozei was really good
Pokémon Shuffle is good too but F2P games are not my cup of tea, but I know many people who play it daily and love it

So all in all I don't agree with Genius Sonority being awful

I did say "during" trying to suggest the GCN era. But I suppose it's a mileage thing per player. For me it was the most rigid, unplayable Pokemon paradox the series has had that close to the core series.

Really? Their track record speaks for itself. Mario Tennis isn't even a bad game depending on what you're looking for. If you have three people over to play you will have a great time with the game. It's not broken or anything, just needed single player content. Anyways, they are the best game developer in the world. Easily. Not even close.

So could Amiibo Festival and Mario & Luigi Paper Jam. The former to try and figure out where the core of the game is meant to be, the latter to get some decent quality assurance done on it.

"This guy has proven to be..."

NO. JUST. NO. STOP ALREADY.

Why? Devil's Third?

No, because Shovel Knight is in Smash Bros.

No. Because RMC keeps posting rumors from those "guys who have proven to be trustworthy". Heavens, I don't care , I don't want rumors from random nerds that might be lying like the majority do, I want freaking news.

Then click on the "General News" section of the site?

Starfox is a pretty niche thing as it is so if they're going to make it sell anything they need to make sure it's good for the crowd who actually care so if it needs a delay then so be it.

I really wish they hadn't tried to make it a GamePad showpiece, especially if the rumours of the GamePad implementation being a point of concern are true. It's just not what anybody wanted, especially when the ship has sailed for the device. Just a straight up StarFox 64 sequel that looks gorgeous would have been more than enough and with Platinum at the helm I can't see what could've gone wrong with that.

Still hoping for the best and positive that Platinum will make it work but stuff like this is concerning.

Considering the Wii U is nearing the end of its life, it is weird how Nintendo decided now to release a GamePad showpiece game.

I don't mind a delay, If it makes for a better game.

Delay it once, shame on you for not sticking to the original date.

Delay it twice, shame on me for trusting you to stick to the new date.

When they 1st shown the game off I knew there wasn't going to be enough time to complete it based on the video of S.M playing w/it just tells you they are finding out how to use the gamepad. The games dev was also postpone due to late S.I. passing so I knew some future games were going to be pushed back. Now if its true then I'm all for an NX release of FS0 as I would love to try it out w/t new ideas of the Joysticks rumbles ect.

Delay means the game will be better? Yeah I'll take it. Smile

I'm hoping this isn't suffering from the MN9 effect, where it's getting delayed for unnecessary tact on features. But I keep remembering that it could be because Miyamoto doesn't know what to do with the franchise anymore to make it innovative.

Anyone hoping that, if we get closer to its release, they'll do a Star Fox Zero Direct? Like the Splatoon Direct and Smash Wii U 50-Fact Extravaganza. (We barely knew much about the latter until late October 2014, remember?)

And they'll use the puppets again for it. (With Slippy added to it)

At this point they might be better off retooling it for NX if it's that much of a mess. They should've let Platinum Games make Star Fox the way they wanted to from the start. Instead we have a remake of 64 again that has controls that don't make sense to even the developers.

I'm bummed that PG didn't get to make the Star Fox game we all know they are capable of making.

The Star Fox easter egg in Bayonetta 2 was amazing. I don,t understand why they just won' tmake a nice traditional Star Fox with Platinum's cinematic flair.

As long as it comes before Zelda U. :p

Unfortunately, these kinds of claims are inherently unfalsifiable. If it's delayed, he's obviously right, but if it's not delayed, he can claim it was only under consideration.

Good news. Delay is much better than a broken game.

it sounds fundamentally broken. a delay is not going to fix that unless it's substantial and the entire game is re-balanced. i seriously doubt they're willing to do that.

Still if you have already invested more than half of the cost of the thing you're making, can you really leave? I mean that happened in Sonic Boom but we're not talking about that.

Question of the day. Should the last batch of games should ALSO be at launch for Nintendo's new console, if it really comes out this year?

This situation makes me wonder how many new games would we see at E3.

From the first time we saw this game I've been thinking it's a mess and with every piece of news it seems my fears are closer to becoming a reality.

I'd love to be optimistic about it but it's so hard. I have a feeling that this game will be a disappointment in both quality and sales and it'll kill the franchise forever. If Other M managed to do that to the Metroid franchise when it was still relatively healthy, I don't think a mediocre Star Fox will do any favor to the series.

I'd love to be wrong, of course. I hope this game is good and that we get more Star Fox for the NX, maybe actually another sequel this time instead of remaking the first game for the fourth time.

I mean tbh any of the other sequels and spinoffs have been kind to Star Fox. Fox it's a popular Smash character but he hasn't fare in a lot of good games. Not bad games, but middle of the road.

it will be delayed again. we will know more about the game at E3.

Scrap the Wii u version and move it to NX

except this is so vague when he's proven wrong he'll have to vanish for awhile instead of admitting he screwed up. Again. It really seems like he's just trying to gain back his street cred after flubbing up with Devil's Third

If the game got another delay, I believe it would be to basically scrap it and re-invent it for the NX. I hope that isn't the state of things, but the total silence on this project since E3 doesn't bode well.

By the way, my hope is that E3 will reveal that both Starfox Zero and Zelda U are coming in 2016 as Wii U exclusives. I bought the console (as most of us on this site have), and I don't know about you folks, but I want every Big N console to have a strong library of exclusives when all is said and done.

Starfox and Zelda in 2016, EXCLUSIVELY for Wii U! Come on!

I definitely want the biggest game Nintendo has ever made to help sell their new better-than-the-Wii U console. It's more important to get a big install base on a console that actually has a chance at third party support.

Good job Nintendo, you are so obsessed with reinventing the wheel youre single handedly causing a drought on the wiiu.

They are starting to become SEGA, if these delays really are because of the motion controls, it wont be long before they sonic all of their franchises.

Please do, make it the best Star Fox ever! Should've asked fans, with a properly worded question, like "should we delay this game to give you the absolute best experience we can?" Most people would say YES.

Just remove the second screen stuff and motion controls and make the Star Fox we all wanted. Stop making a game tailored for the Gamepad just because you desperately want us to use that glorified paperweight and just make a good game. Nintendo has never needed gimmicks to innovate before.

I am a HUGE fan of Star Fox, and it's painful to see this series turn out like this. I would be perfectly fine if they simply canned the project and started over. I'd rather have a good game years later than a terrible one.

Doesn't surprise me. Also won't surprise me if it ends up being rushed.

Ahhhh the internet. So much negativity.

This time around, I call that being realistic.

I generally roll my eyes when multiple delays occur for a game (and someone inevitably posts that annoying Miyamoto quote), but in this case: please, take all the time with this one that you need, Nintendo.

Make Star Fox great again.
