More talk of Nintendo working on feature films (UPDATE)

We have an update on this information from Dr. Serkan Toto, a well-known analyst...

Comic book movies were pretty damn bad for a number of years. It took Hollywood quite some time to find the magic formula to turn comic books into entertaining movies, but now they're huge moneymakers. We just need one game company to make that same boom happen for the game industry. It sure would be nice to see Nintendo make that happen! Thanks to Led-Mirrorknight for the heads up!

I like how just the word 'weeb' struck a nerve with you. Continue riding the downward spiral that is Japanese animation.

What we expect: a Zelda anime movie, a live action badass Metroid movie, a Fire Emblem anime movie, a Star Fox anime movie like the short video they had weeks ago.

What will Nintendo give us: some shitty CG Pixar-like movie about Kirby, Mario, DK or some shit like that.

Lol, we got a weeb over here.

Oh noes, a guy who spends his sunday trolling on a video game blog comment section.

Oh god, I'm so nerd and you're so cool. You must be saying that while driving your Ferrari full of women, right? Oh noes!

"Anime movie." Not gonna happen. Unless these anime movies are Miyazaki-standards of quality or Disney, Nintendo would be insane to even chance the idea of leaving their properties to 2D animation studios. It's gotta be CG/live-action and more-or-less, it will be in the U.S. or Europe. Could always hope for more shorts, though.

If it makes you feel better, I (and others) wanted Nintendo to accept the fan-made Star Fox cartoon, but that's never going to happen.

Metroid movie, Xenoblade movie, Star Fox movie - > Evangelion style would be awesome!!!

Pikmin, DK, Mario and Animal crossing Pixar style would be great.

WOW! Just WOW!!!

If this goes right and Nintendo gets the right people to partner with this could be huge!!! Hopefully they work on the story of whatever movie they do first and make something entertaining!!!

I'd like a Pikmin movie but I'm not sure if it's popular enough...

They will partner with others but plan to do most in house.

If it's anything like Subspace Emissary or SFAdv., that might actually work out pretty well.

Do people not Remember the Pokemon Movies in theaters or something?
I went like 5 times.(Oh kay, so some of that had to do with the Trading Cards, but Also because I like Mewtwo.)

On the animated series front, they had moderate or mild success(Not counting SMBSS, cause Nintendo was Not directly involved with that one). And those were times when SMC were pretty much dead, so that's saying something.

Those who have yet to see Kirby, Right Back Atcha', you might want to take a look. I probably wouldn't Recommend F-Zero GPX or whatever it was called. And some may recall the Donkey Kong Series, from what I remember, it was a pretty good show, 'forced' singing segments aside.

Twitter is a bad way to convey news.

I'd rather have live action Zelda than animated Zelda, to be honest.

Maybe as a series instead of a film (or if so, a trilogy). I just think, the realistic depictions of the characters and world of the series, would translate well to live action fantasy, so like so many other fantasy franchises have. Though I would love to see the use of animatronics, puppetry, and even suitmation instead of just CGI. Imagine little muppet-like deku scrubs or full suited actors playing Gorons. That'd be great.

Well... if they could do it convincingly, I suppose that would be okay. But if it turned out something like a kaiju movie--by which I mean obviously a guy in a rubber suit in the worst ways--that would just be bad.

I was thinking more like Jim Henson, those are usually top quality, like their old Dinosaurs tv show.

If it's in-house, that will be very interesting to see. Most projects, including game trailers or even cutscenes were done by other animation studios.

If Nintendo wants to do everything in house than they should buy and/or merge with Bandai Namco.

Maybe a merger could get Sunrise off of Gundam's dick for a while.

I have to disagree on this one, as not every comic book movie was -THAT- bad to begin with...

The unreleased Fantastic 4 flick is still the best F4 silverscreen production ever viewable!

(Besides, wanna see an awesome videogame movie? Two words. Hardcore. Henry.)
