MercurySteam says there was no truth to the rumor of them working on a Metroid title

A portion of a Eurogamer interview with MercurySteam's Enric Alvarez and Dave Cox...

E: Is the rumour that you created a Metroid prototype for Wii U and 3DS also bullshit?

Enric Alvarez: That's more bullshit.

E: Really?

Enric Alvarez: People have a lot of imagination and time to think about stuff, but that's not necessarily the truth.

E: So you're saying, categorically, you did not work on a new Metroid prototype for Wii U and 3DS?

Enric Alvarez: This is exactly what I'm saying.

Dave Cox: We're primarily working on Raiders. We are doing other things. But Raiders is the focus of the studio right now.

Enric Alvarez: I think this one grew from an interview we did when we were finalising Mirror of Fate. While doing an interview, somebody asked us about what other game we would like to do, and I think the Metroid thing came from that. Or it was about the Metroid influences in Mirror of Fate. The rest is pure invention.

would have been awful anyways

Somewhere far, far away from the Land of Nintendo...
Man1: Bullshit?
Man2: Bullshit!
Man1: Bullshit.

That reminds me of something else we heard from MercuryStream.

Cox Says 'No Plans' for Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow - Mirror of Fate Port to Consoles http://www.gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=195910

This was less than eight months before it was released on consoles.

Of course not. Why? Nintendo wouldn't trust a developer like MurcurySteam with any of its IPs.

I mean.....................they DID already trust Team Ninja.....

Just saying.

They are NOTHING alike. Mercury Steam is like nowhere near comparable to Team Ninja. That's not even opinion, it's 100% fact.

Just saying.

that's exactly what someone under NDA would say!

Happy Anniversary Samus... Nintendo really seems grateful for all the excitement your journeys have brought them over the years... (It's tragic, how badly Nintendo treats this franchise...)

Good. I wouldn't have wanted them to be making a Metroid game.

If Nintendo's too lazy to do it themelves anymore, at least get a good company like Wayforward or Vanillaware, of even Good-Feel, to do a 2D Metroid instead.

I'm definitely not a fan of their Castlevania effort so yeah, probably not a bad thing.
