Nintendo Switch presentation scheduled for January 12/13, 2017

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- In a presentation to financial analysts today in Tokyo, Nintendo Co., Ltd. president Tatsumi Kimishima announced that major details regarding the company’s new Nintendo Switch home gaming system will be shared at the Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017. This will be an event for invited media, financial analysts and trade partners in Tokyo that will be globally livestreamed on Jan. 12, U.S. time. The presentation will include the launch date and pricing for Nintendo Switch, as well as a look at the lineup of games currently in development.

Kimishima also announced that Nintendo Switch sampling events for invited media, partners, and consumers will take place in the U.S. and Europe after the presentation at later dates. There will be opportunities for the public to participate in other hands-on events around the same time, details of which will be announced later.

The exact time of the Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017 will be announced through Nintendo’s social media channels in the coming weeks. Last week, Nintendo Switch was first revealed in a video, available at http://www.nintendo.com/switch.

It isn't a direct though.

It is a live presentation, likely on a stage. It says they are inviting media and stuff to the event and broadcasting it.

This is basically what the E3 presentation would have been if they didn't start doing Digital Events instead.

Well at least no stupid rumors will occupy the in-between period. Longest direct wait so far

Not gonna lie, fully expected to wait until January to get even the date of this Direct. Also...it just feels weird to know the date of a Nintendo Direct this far in advance.

Ah, right. Scratch that, then.

I expect a bingo board :p

Because its not announced directly.....

Not sure what you are trying to tell me, but I was aware it wasn't a Direct if that is what you meant.

A live presentation. Nice Smile

I'm so excited to see the games!

And it's nice that they have a date set so that Reddit doesn't fall as far into insanity as the wait for the first reveal. Haha

Only 78 days to go!

See this is nice, they're finally talking consistently after months of radio slience. Things are starting to pick up ever since the teaser last week.

Not long to wait now, holidays are always here and gone before ya know it! Hype.

Can expect more consistent communications all the way during the run up to launch now that the Switch has been revealed

While I'm waiting I think I'll write another novel. Two and a half months is plenty of time for that.

Can't wait for the journalist to complain that its in Tokyo

"Kimishima also announced that Nintendo Switch sampling events for invited media, partners, and consumers will take place in the U.S. and Europe after the presentation at later dates."

Yeah, but thats after the reveal. I'm sure people wanted to be there when the presentation happens.

I remember the Wii U one being pretty hype. Remember when they revealed Wonderful 101 and everyone dropped their jaws when Bayonetta 2 was announced? yeah, good times, and this one's gonna be better.

Whoo hooooo!!! Sweet mother of 8-bit yes!!! So in what? 3 months? Yep! It'll be here before I will know it because of school! I might forget. Lol

If it's live then the times would be a bit rough for those of us here. Well probably those in EST. As of this writing it's about to be afternoon in Tokyo and way late in EST, not so much here in PST.

Regardless great to see more Switch coverage almost immediately in the new year.

Maybe 9AM tokyo time, 8PM EST?

That's the only time I can think of that would work for Tokyo and the American time zones.

Yeah, screw Europe with 2 AM times. =P

Heh, I actually thought about including European times, but I don't really see an option that is feasible for all three parts of the world. The times I proposed are already kind of early and kind of late respectively.

Seeing as this tweet came from NOA and not NOE, I'm guessing tokyo and america are the priorities.

It's probably going to be in a physical location in the US, meaning it should have sane times for that region. I'm thinking of regular E3 times, so that's afternoon and early evening, I think? That would make late night (but not 2 AM) for Europe, and early early morning for Japan.
Consider that Japan has their own event on the 14th and 15th, I don't think they'll regard Japan too much for this presentation

It's probably going to be in a physical location in the US

Uh, I think there is some confusion here. The reveal is taking place in Tokyo and will be livestreamed here in NA, and I assume worldwide. That is what I've been referring to. Regular E3 times would be kind of a wonky time for a live reveal in Tokyo.

Basically, because the reveal is in Tokyo, and that is the one that we all will be seeing, Japan timing takes precedent.

At least that is how I understand it.

Oh. I misunderstood then. Wonder why the announcement came from NoA if the reveal is in Tokyo...

Nintendo's President announced it during the investor meeting in Japan, so I think NoA was just confirming that we would get to see the reveal live too.

great news . still like two months just before the release , that's so close . Oh that's so true I truly didn't think one game could set up the internet like the witch did lol

They're taking a page from Apple and Google...announce then release a few months later.

I think that is actually a good idea.

Yeah, that's actually the way tech product announcements seem to be gearing towards these days. AMD and NVIDIA do the same too. The days of a long lead time between announcement and release are pretty much over.

Please be in English!

I would have loved it if it was this year, but oh well at least we got an exact date.
Nintendo UK announced that it is on the 13th, which means after midnight for Europe, hopefully it will be early midnight.

That's neat. Consistent communication. Nice.

Games...in action... Oh yeah, this will be great. And we'll finally get our NS questions answered...

January is normally a boring month anyway, so this is great news.

I sure hope we'll see what Retro have been coocking up. Platinum and dammit, Ubisoft.

Love how on point Nintendo is on with their Switch marketing campaign so far - roll on January 13th!

... And thank heck for no two odd months of crazy theories on when the next dam of info will be released.

Nice, on my off days too.

(realizes I'm looking at December)

Nevermind, dammit its on my two busiest days.
