Dear Reader:
Michel Ancel shares more insight into Beyond Good and Evil 2's creation and dev struggles
Coming from a Kotaku interview with Michel Ancel...
- work on Beyond Good and Evil 2 has been going on since the end of Rayman Legends
- the game is a long ways off from release
- Ancel calls it “a very serious development for Ubisoft.”
- the dev team wanted to focus on interplanetary travel
- this was supposed to be an element of the first game
- the horsepower of today's consoles is making that original vision a reality
- with that said, the team is still figurine out how to handle the sheer scope/size of planets and solar systems
- challenges also come from behavioral AIs, systems, and giant spaceships crashing on big planets
- the sequel was never cancelled, thanks to Ubisoft's Yves Guillemot and Serge Hascoet,
- Guillemot & Hascoet want Ubisoft to create things that have never been created before, which is why the game has survived
