The following review scores come from this week's issue of Famitsu:
Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers (NSW) – 7/8/7/7 [29/40]
Box Up (3DS) – 5/4/4/7 [20/40]
Surprised at the lowish score for SF2. I haven't played in forever and the HD graphics mode looks great. Thinking of picking it up. It's only $40. At sixty I wouldn't even consider.
Not really surprised at the low score. USF II doesn't really do anything better than what other SF games have already done.
If you've played Super Street Fighter II on SNES, you've pretty much already played USF II.
This is a good litmus test: If you agree with this statement, you probably never really got into the game and thus you aren’t missing much in USFII (and might even enjoy it). If you disagree, you probably disagree strongly.
Super Street Fighter II X is the gold standard against which all subsequent SF2 updates are judged, and on that basis, I’m amazed USF2 has gotten as high a score as it did. Even HD Remix had the good sense to retain the original SSF2X balancing as an option. USF2 takes away more than it gives, which is ludicrous given both the history and composition of the game.
