Call of Duty: World War II not coming to Switch, according to dev working on the title

Well, that's as close to as a confirmation as we can get on the matter. There has been a lot of back and forth on the matter in recent weeks, but with a dev actually working on the game chiming in, I think that closes the book on discussion.

I pretty much agree on the greatness of pointer controls for console FPS games. That said, I think the joycons can do a pretty good job at "fake" pointer controls (and tablet-motion controls for Splatoon on Wii U was the best way to play that game, in my opinion,) so I'd be interested in seeing FPSes like COD give it a go on Switch.

I really feel like Activision and other big western 3rd Parties like EA are missing the boat when it comes to Switch. We all know the system got off to a great start, and if things continue this way, I think they'll be kicking themselves for not getting on the system early and helping build and nurture an install base that supports the games they make.

Disappointing. Call of Duty is one of those games Nintendo should have actively tried to get on Switch. Maybe they did, who knows...

I don't care for the series, but I'm sure it's portability would be a huge incentive for players to get a Switch version. Local multiplayer action for those games could be huge.

*sigh* Might as well just at this to the growing list of 3rd party games that won't be on the Switch.

During the Wii and Wii U era we were getting COD ports. Hell the COD ports on Wii were decent for what they were. Not even sure if I want to play another COD (or first person shooter) without pointer controls anymore. That was the ideal way to play FPS on Nintendo consoles for the last 2 gens.

I REALLLLLLYYYYYYY want a solid FPS (not third person, sorry Spla2n) on Switch. Whether it's COD or something else... I have an itch I need scratching!!!!!

THIS. At least we know Metroid Prime 4 is coming, so that's something. But yeah, I really wish there were more FPSs for the 3DS and Switch. It's a genre that would be great to play on-the-go, yet almost no big developer risks making one for some reason.

Pointer controls are wonderful, I really doubt the motion sensors in the joycons can be as good. So I suppose it'll be mouse n keyboard for my future fps'ing.

It is ridiculous that Switch does not game this game. One of the biggest third party franchises skipping switch. That says a LOT.

Activision probably feels like everyone on Nintendo will just buy Splatoon 2 and ignore WW II.

The ol' "Nintendo fans only buy Nintendo products" spiel. The only thing we'll get from Activision is Skylanders and that's it...unless Switch blows Wii numbers out of the water. Then we'd just get shitty shovelware from Activision instead of CoD 2018.

Might as well save us all disappointment. If Activision allowed WW II to go to Switch, it would only get four months of supports (no advertisements either) and no DLC other than a free multiplayer map. Activision is that just that shitty.

Activision killed the Wii U CoD-base with poor support (nevermind Ghosts shittiness). The Nin CoD-base will never return unless Activision does a Nin-exclusive CoD with full DLC support.

What a god damned shocker!

God even when given a decent selling system they treat Nintendo systems like cancer.

One thing to remember, this developer isn't working for Beenox from what I saw on his Twitter account. Beenox is the development studio that had "news" and was working on a Call of Duty game (I think), and I don't think that news has happened yet, has it?

So, this guy might not know what Beenox is working on, and we can hope that Beenox is working on porting WWII to the Switch?

Honestly this would be a shame if it was true. The Wii U got that year's Call of Duty, a fine entry.

I'd love a portable Zombies mode. A new one, anyway. Black Ops for DS has stayed in my quick-access pack for a long time.
