Nintendo's Japanese website says Mario and Luigi's days as plumbers are long gone
The official Japanese website for Nintendo has a section where you can get info on various characters, including Mario and Luigi. If you click on the profiles for both Mario and Luigi, you get something rather interesting.
Mario
Mario is good at sports such as Tennis and Baseball, Soccer and Kart Racing… he’s able to handle just about anything well. It seems he used to work as a plumber a long time ago…
Luigi
Just like Mario, it seems Luigi used to work as a plumber…
I guess Mario and Luigi have spent so long in the Mushroom Kingdom, they haven't had any time to get back to their regular jobs! I guess their plumbing days are officially over.
