Honestly... this kind of looks like a spelunky rip-off. It's at least certainly inspired by it.
This is an enhanced version of Spelunker World on PS4/Vita, which in turn was a sequel to Spelunker, which was on the NES and various 80s computers (Commodore 64, MSX, etc.). If anything, Spelunky was inspired by this (though, they really don't play at all like each other).
I have the Japanese physical release and it's a fun game. $20 would be a more reasonable price, but hey, at least it's coming to the west.
I love coop and this game has some big time fans in Japan.
Notably this series precedes Spelunky by more than a decade.
I've been debating on importing the Japanese release, but the language barrier held me back. With this announcement, I hope they release a patch with the English translation supported. I need my physical goods!
I played the Japanese demo so much I feel like I HAVE to buy it now. Good thing it's FINALLY coming here! :D
