Rainway dev shows Cuphead streaming on Switch

While we wait for the Rainway app to enter into the official beta, the dev team has showed off some footage of Cuphead streaming to Switch. This is something they teased a few weeks back, and now they've finally come through on the promise. As far as we know, this is as close as we'll get to seeing Cuphead on Switch!

Is it just me or does the framerate look quite BAD?

Wow, quite neat...so that's the app that lets you play Steam games on the Switch? Heard about it, but not for some time now....looks promising

Not trying to be a jerk, but you mean "abysmal."

Unless he simply means the frame-rate looks like it belongs to the abyss. We may never know what he truly means.

"Of or pertaining to the deeps." Hahaha The guy is solid. I would write "evidentially" when I meant "evidently" until I was like 26. I point out because I care, not because I'm a Rude Rodney.

I didn’t notice there was a typo until you said it. I must be dislexyc

After the disaster of the Scalebound cancellation I was about to sell my XO, but Cuphead made me keep it Smile

But what's the point with this APP? If I could use the controllers on the Switch, maybe it would be a point, but just streaming?

They show using the Switch Joy Cons in that video. (It's apparently the 2nd player, and since he's playing 1 handed the 2nd character doesn't do much, but he at least shows joining the game and jumping up and down during the boss fight). It's streaming the video to the Switch, and the control inputs back to the PC (like most all video game streaming services would work).

Ah. So he actually is controlling it. Didn'tcatch that from my phone. Well, thanks.

I still haven't played cuphead but watching a few videos I was left wondering if the art would get in the way of the gameplay, thus creating artificial difficulty. God knows critics are absolutely not reliable when it comes to commenting on difficulty and cheap/artificial difficulty now that Dark Souls has become the absolute reference for anything in this industry. So yeah, can't rely on critics for that and I have to try it out myself.

Try Mark Brown's Gamemakers toolkit vid on it.

It's a very trial and error game.

"watching a few videos I was left wondering if the art would get in the way of the gameplay, thus creating artificial difficulty"

There are a couple of bosses where foreground elements annoyingly block some of the action elements (like this jerk), if that is what you mean.

Spoiler

the framerate looks bad, and only button might hide a bit of lag. Still for anything not that demanding it could work. but come on the switch can sell some of those games

Awesome!!!!! two things in 1 nobody here cares about, crapware gangbang!

What two things are those? Are you saying nobody here cares about Cuphead?

Sure sounds like it. Cuphead is no Mario Odyssey, but I sure enjoy it. It's gorgeous and fun (and frustrating as hell!)
