We've come so far

Okay, so, Rare stumbled on a lot of great, revolutionary ideas when developing GoldenEye, but they also thought up their share of turkeys. For instance, for the sake of realism, Rare thought players should yank out and then reinsert the Rumble Pak every time they reloaded. Y’know, as if they were actually changing the magazine in a gun. It’s kind of a brilliant idea in a weird, would totally never work kind of way, but it was ultimately nixed by Nintendo, as the Rumble Pak wasn’t built to stand-up to that kind of use.

So first 3rd party game to use that camera, and even only second even when counting first party? :O

Yeah, I wonder why they put it there, I can't think of any sensible use of it.

Well, there's clearly no other place to put it... and they clearly thought it could be used in a cool way. Like the NFC in the Wii U gamepad, they probably have plans for it, but just not ready right now.

Well, of course they thought that at one point, I just can't imagine how that could be interesting. I mean, the usefulness of the IR pointer and motion controls of the Wii, dual screens or HD rumble is obvious, but this... I have no idea.

Well, the fact it can act as a 3D camera could be interesting. I would have to actually test it though before saying I could do anything with it though. That's the kind of thing that is hard to say what you could do with it unless you "play" with it.
