Square-Enix shows interest in creating enhanced ports of past titles for Switch

Square-Enix CEO Yosuke Matsuda knows that there are new gamers out there who have never experienced Square-Enix's past catalog of games. He wants to change that by bringing enhanced ports of those games to newer platforms, Switch included.

“One of our other big initiatives is to get as many of our past titles available via digital releases. Among the younger generations of gamers, you’ve got lots of people out there who may have heard of our past titles but have never had an opportunity to play them. So we think that programme of porting and transferring the older titles over to newer platforms, such as the Switch, is very important. So that people get that awareness of our back catalogue. Just straight ports isn’t cutting it, we need to update those and modernise them to make something that works for modern gamers too.”

No specific titles were mentioned, but I guess we can start expecting some classic Square-Enix games to make their way to Switch.

Thanks to Sligeach_eire for the heads up!

Chrono Trigger Remaster. Make it happen and I will buy it day one!

How's about that Secret of Mana remake you've got cooking for Vita for some reason?

Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 would be an absolute dream to have with me everywhere.

Nier Automata? Please?

"Just straight ports isn’t cutting it, we need to update those and modernise"

No, please keep them as they are. I don’t want character designs similar to the mobile version of Final Fantasy VI,

If they do it in the style of Octopath, I'm all game!

Please release Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echos of Time from the Wii/DS to the Nintendo Switch. That is my favorite multiplayer co-op RPG.

Brave fencer Musashi

That is all.

The Kingdom Hearts Collections to prep for the obvious KHIII port.

FFVII Remake to complete that circle.

Please stop it with the ports.

First Capcom, now SquareEnix. They are goin' port crazy!

Tomb Raider Collection and the Kingdom Hearts HD Remixes are all I need from Square to be honest.
