Cycle Across Kanto is a cinematic feature-length documentary exploring the real life inspirations behind Pokémon Red and Blue’s KANTO region. The team behind the project are an assembly of professional cinematographers, animators, and editors with over 35 years of collective filmmaking experience. Harnessing the team’s passion for long-distance cycling, we want to spend 40 days exploring and documenting the different areas, people, and cultures around the south-eastern region of Japan which was the inspiration behind the game’s landscape. A Japanese translator will be joining the cycling party who will bridge the language barrier between our team and the local residents / interviewees. There will be much to learn about the histories surrounding the region and we will be working hard to capture the visuals, sounds, and moods of each location.

Pokémon has always been a franchise dedicated to bringing people together and we want to honour the series by bringing this new perspective to the wider Pokémon community.
