Chinese TV station gets duped, says Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is coming to Switch

Recently we saw some speculation concerning Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. We knew Nintendo was contacting gaming press to ask for permission to use their Zelda: A Link Between Worlds review quotes for something. People started thinking Nintendo was going to re-release the game on Switch, and that rumor grew wildly. Then we found out Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is getting a Nintendo Selects release on 3DS, which explains the review quote situation.

Now here's where things get weird. Somehow that rumor of A Link Between Worlds on Switch made it all the way over to China. Shanghai Mobile TV, a Chinese TV station you can watch on buses/trains, ran a story saying A Link Between Worlds was coming to Switch. As far as we know, they've gotten their wires crossed and are reporting the earlier rumor as fact. Either that, or this news station knows something we don't!

Seems like a good example of how misinformation can spread extremely fast, which can lead to issues for many things, not just entertainment.

I like it that they have their own TV station for this stuff.

I wish it was the case. I want to play this on a big TV. I hardly touch my 3ds anymore. That being said, the source doesn't look very reliable and Nintendo has to strike a balance between remakes and new releases if they don't want to get struck by the media. they already have Bayo/DK coming, maybe it would be wise to keep stuff like that for later anyway. Or maybe release it under the Virtual Console brand or something, this way people would have a more positive perception of the whole thing.

And who am I kidding, knowing Nintendo it's very possible that they don't work on it at all. I mean they have been pretty clear on the fact that they want to keep 3ds exclusives. I want Zelda (ALBW and 3d remakes) and Metroid to be exceptions though.
