Wii Points addition to be disabled

In preparation for the closure of the Wii Shop on January 30, 2019, we will be removing the ability to add Wii Points with either a credit card or a Wii Points Card on March 26, 2018 at 1:00 PM (PT). If you’d like to purchase Wii Points, please do so before this functionality is removed. Once you’ve added Wii Points, you can redeem them for Wii Shop content until the Wii Shop closes. For more information on the closure of the Wii Shop, please visit https://support.nintendo.com/wii/shopnews.

Thanks for your support,

OK. That's the previously announced deadline.

I thought maybe they had moved it up.

I have a few weeks to figure out what I need.

Same, I should really look into what I never got around to getting and finally just do it.

This is probably one of the biggest reasons why I hope gaming never goes digital only, as things like these eventually end up shutting down. At least I can still play my Wii discs on either my Wii or Wii U, but come January 2019 if I realize there's a Wiiware game I never got to play and I want it then I'm SOL.

I've had 500 leftover points sitting there unused for many years because of the stupid way you add points to the system. I'm not interested in any games I already own the ones I want, and don't want to add more money just to purchase something uninteresting.

What should I do?

Give up of these points or looks for the most interesting thing that it cost 500 points on the Wii Shop Channel.

Was just thinking I should get Act Raiser while I still can.
I wish they'd bring Castlevania rebirth to switch.

I haven't booted up my Wii since I did the system transfer to Wii U. I know Wii's online services are dead, but is it still possible to gift a Virtual Console game to a friend, or can you not even view your friend list anymore?

ehm you DO realize that once the store closes down, ALL purchases are nullified and there is no point in doing ANYTHING with the damn thing.

it's much better to just hack the console and get anything you want since paying customers will get absolutely nothing VERY soon...
