28-year-old Chris Chalms couldn't resist the Switch when it was revealed. He knew he wanted to grab one when they became available, which is exactly what he did. Little did he know how the purchase would help him discover an impending medical issue.

Whenever Chris would play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, he would feel a sharp pain in his right palm. This would only happen when playing on the Switch. The HD rumble implementation in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, specifically the sensation of picking up a coin, would cause Chris considerable pain. The pain got so bad that Chris stopped playing Switch altogether.

This pain was enough to convince Chris to visit the doctor's office. While an initial visit didn't give Chris much information, a diagnosis would come once Chris noticed a bruise developing on his hand. Chris went back to the doctor and found out he had a tumor in his hand, which he is set to have removed this coming Monday.

Chris says it was the Switch that helped him discover the issue, and brought him to the doctor's office for more info. “I definitely believe that if it hadn’t been for the Switch I wouldn’t have gone to the doctors until the mark started to raise from my palm months later.”

Thanks to Sligeach_eire for the heads up!
