GN Version 5.0

As we mentioned earlier today, Takaaki Ichijo has teamed with MediaScape to bring Back in 1995 64 to the New 3DS. Some might remember that the game was originally planned for all versions of the 3DS, but that's no longer the case. Looking for an explanation on that and much more? Check out tidbits from Ichijo's latest dev blog below.

- in 2016, Nintendo opened its Nintendo Developer Portal, allowing indies in Japan to make games for the 3DS without a pub
- the plan was to go without a publisher, but costs associated with the CERO rating, as well as customer support, lead to a pub
- original plans included use of the microphone, but Unity's support on the platform didn't have the necessary option for that
- the game was originally coming to all 3DS models, but optimization and memory leak issues lead to a jump to New 3DS only
- there will not be any ports to other platforms, including Switch, due to the time/effort it would take
- there are no plans for a Western release of the New 3DS version
