January 2018 NPD sales results - Nintendo Switch sold most the most units during the month overall

This comes from NPD analyst Mat Piscatella...

''Hardware spending in January 2018 grew 119 percent when compared to year ago, to $278 million. Spending gains were driven by Switch, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 hardware sales growth. PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One all performed well in the month of January. In dollar sales, the gap between the top-selling platform and the third best-selling was only 3 percent. Nintendo Switch was the month’s best-selling platform in Unit sales, while PlayStation 4 topped dollar sales. Xbox One dollar and unit sales in January 2018 are the highest achieved for the platform in a January month.''

Nice to see the Xbox One X driving MS console sales so much. I love having a Switch, One X, and a New 3DS XL... And I'm just sort of okay about having a Wii U lol

EA still needs to see more proof that the Switch will succeed.

Cannot wait for their next press event describing their intentions for the system.

"The Switch market has asked for more support from EA as it reaches a 4 million mark in attachments. But us at EA asks the question, 'what really is 4 million?'"

Its just Nintendo Domination

"January 2018 Nintendo 3DS hardware dollar sales are the best recorded for a January month since 2014, while unit sales were the highest since January 2013".

^ Ok someone tell me why Nintendo would want to kill off the 3DS after that? The thing is still selling. I get that people want Nintendo to just focus on the Switch (which in terms of Software they kinda are already just doing only Switch), but it would be dumb to remove a money maker for no good reason.

Just don't make any 3ds exclusive titles and I'll be fine. Nintendo seems to be okay letting third parties ride the system into the sunset.

This is all the more wanting me to get the Switch badly....

3DS has some life left in it. That's good that the fanbase is loyal, it's another revenue stream for Nintendo and it's got quality content.
