holy **** at those MH:W sales O_O

Still weak compared to 3DS launch month numbers (not sure on the PSP ones), but still impressive considering how traditional home consoles do over there.

MHW has already hit about 2.5M now and is close to overtaking MH4U sales (2.7M). It's done really well thus far for a console MH with no local multiplayer and paid online.

Well I was comparing more to main releases (MH4, MHGenerations) rather than the updated versions since those don't do as well as the main releases (and World is a main release). But yes, no one would deny that its doing well and probably better than anyone expected in Japan.

Yeh it has a long way to go to hit the sales of MH4 or even Generations, given that Generations was a spinoff (3.8M for 4, 3.3M for Generations)

No surprise here; Monster Hunter has always been a big seller for the Japanese market, no matter the console of choice. While these are not average Dragon Quest numbers, it's still really, really high!

Is this possibly the first game on a Sony console (as in portables excluded) to reach over 2 mil in the last decade?

Yup. No title on PS3 hit 2m in JP (FF13 was at 1.9M) and the last console game (before Splatoon 2) was Wii Party.
