LinkedIn profile for Retro dev mentions "compelling story in a meaningful world," and "non-traditional storytelling"

For years now, fans have been wondering what Retro Studios is up to. Retro and Nintendo remain extremely tight-lipped, but now we have finally have some insight, thanks to the LinkedIn profile of a Retro dev.

"Working with a highly skilled team to bridge the gaps between game design needs and telling a compelling story in a meaningful world. Finding the best ways to construct the narrative we want the player to experience with the tools and restrictions available through text, dialogue, and non-traditional storytelling.

* Key team member for collaborative worldbuilding, story construction, and IP development.
* Point of contact for supplemental prose writing.
* Special focus on designer collaboration for player experience storytelling."

"Narrative specializations in worldbuilding, character development, design integration, non-linear storytelling, prose fiction"

If fans were worried that Retro was taking on yet another Donkey Kong project, the above description looks like it puts those fears to rest. Seems like Retro is working on something pretty interesting, but only time will tell what it is.

This is OBVIOUSLY referring to DKC: Return of the Kremlings. Where we find out where K.Rool has been this whole time and dive deep into the childhood and psyche of our favorite insane Crocodile king.

I dont see how any of that doesnt apply to a third Donkey Kong game tbqh.

I dunno RMC, you might be overlooking the non-linear narrative potential of DK Country and its deep Great Ape War backstory

Nah, it's eternal Darkness.

It's frustrating to see gaming media outlets frame the prospect of new Donkey Kong games as a "fear" fans are "worried" about, apart from "pretty interesting" other games Retro could be making. What other Nintendo series gets that treatment?

A studio of Retro's caliber is going to make a great damn game, no matter the franchise, new or old. You'd think fans and outlets alike would stop the snide remarks about Donkey Kong, just because it's not the game they'd personally prefer Retro to make.

Metroid Prime 5 confirmed.

Sounds like everything Metroid Prime 4 should be.

"Yet another"? Did anyone say "Retro is making yet another Metroid game" when they made Metroid Prime 3? Why is it that Donkey Kong can't have three games in a row but it's perfectly fine for Metroid?

And here I thought people thought of them as Labo makers...

Whatever it is, if they're in the "hiring" phase, it's years away. Nothing to see.
